Ozanam Inn Computer Lab
The Ozanam Inn is a non-profit agency that has been serving the homeless and needy of greater New Orleans since 1955. All services are provided free-of-charge. The Inn is equipped to sleep a minimum of 96 men per night and has instituted a rotation policy to ensure fairness on every man's amount overnight shelter. In addition to housing and food, Ozanam Inn offers other services to their clients including a computer lab.
Loyola students serving at Ozanam Inn will be involved in assisting homeless residents with computer issues. These issues might include learning the basics of computer usage (using a mouse, getting on the Internet) to more complicated tasks such as building a resume, setting up a Facebook account, listening to music, or finding a job via various online sites.
By serving at Ozanam Inn Loyola students would learn about their own stereotypes/prejudices. Many students come to the Inn with preconceptions about the homeless population of New Orleans only to find those preconceptions are inaccurate.
