Service learning is required for this course.

All students in this course will participate in a service learning project on behalf of three community organizations in the village of San Juan del Obispo, Guatemala.  All three organizations (a library, an arts school and a museum) are inspired by the legacy of Luis de Lion, who was disappeared by the Guatemalan military in 1985.
