Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation
ABOUT THE AGENCY
The Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation (LPBF) is an environmental organization charged with the care of the Pontchartrain Basin, working for and with basin citizens on issues of water quality, habitat and the coast.
WHAT YOU DO
Service learners will serve as volunteer tour guides for the LPBF New Canal Lighthouse Museum and Education Center.
WHAT YOU LEARN
Serving at LPBF will allow students to learn about the Pontchartrain Basin, specifically the history and environmental issues that have faced and continue to face our region in terms of water quality, habitat and the coast. Students will learn how to tell the story of the Pontchartrain Basin to the general public in an engaging and interactive way. Students who serve as tour guides in our museum will learn a great deal about local and regional science and history as well as marketing.
