Elevate

Our mission is to ELEVATE the life skills and abilities of youth in America through mentor-based programs in athletics, academics, fitness and social development.  Our aim is to close the achievement gap by ensuring that inner-city youth have access to highly effective afterschool and summer developmental programs free of charge.

All Loyola volunteers working with ELEVATE will be expected to act as mentors to young college hopefuls.  Specifically, Loyola service learning students can tutor young student athletes in academic subjects and assist in ACT/SAT preparation sessions.  Qualified students can also assist in the development of student athletes on the court with basketball skill development and conditioning training for some of New Orleans' best junior high and high school basketball players.  By serving with ELEVATE, students will learn about the determination of inner-city youth to succeed and the hard work required to become a collegiate athlete.  They will also learn that inner city youth are no different from other teenagers.
