Elevate

Mission: To elevate the life skills and abilities of inner-city student-athletes in America through mentor-based programs in athletic, academic and social development.

Vision:  To close the achievement gap by ensuring America's inner-city youth have access to highly effective afterschool and summer developmental programs, free-of-charge.

History: ELEVATE New Orleans, Inc. was originally established as PeacePlayers International - New Orleans in 2008. In 2009, ELEVATE New Orleans, Inc. was formed.

By serving at Elevate, Loyola students will learn:

  1. Inner-city student athletes are no different than any other kids.
  2. The organization has a desire for change for all our student-athletes
  3. We all play a part in change no matter how small or big.

Students serving in the athletic program at Elevate can expect to perform the following tasks: signing in student-athletes and assisting coaches with basketball tasks.

Students serving in the academic program at Elevate can expect to tutoring in the following areas: math, science, writing, and Spanish.

Preservice requirements

Students interested in serving at Elevate should attend an on-campus orientation on Tuesday, January 22, from 1-2pm in Multimedia Room 2, Monroe Library.  Students are asked to bring a government-issued photo ID (for background check), pencil and paper.
