Edible Schoolyard

Edible Schoolyard NOLA

The Edible Schoolyard NOLA (ESY NOLA) changes the way children eat, learn and live at FirstLine Schools in New Orleans. Our goal is to improve the long-term well-being of our students, families and school community.

Loyola Service Learning students will be able to work directly with K - 8th grade students in open admission public charter schools and learn the ways in which health and wellness is being addressed in schools specifically through the innovative and intentional programming of The Edible Schoolyard NOLA

Loyola service learners will be cafeteria mentors.  Tasks will include greeting students of all ages, modeling table manners, cleaning tables, and pouring water during breakfast and/or lunch.  In addition to being cafeteria mentors, Loyola service learners may also be able to partake in general gardening tasks at various times.

Preservice requirements

Anyone interested in volunteering at Edible Schoolyard NOLA will be required to attend a mantatory on-site orienatation at Green, located at 2319 Valence Street.
