Catholic Charities: Crescent House

Crescent House serves victims of domestic violence and empowers them to regain control of their lives.  We offer many other services, including counseling, case management, safe housing, health advocacy, support groups, children's programming, and a 24-hour crisis hotline.

Crescent House hosts a free Children's Group for children who have been impacted by domestic violence.  Loyola service learning students can tutor school-age children and assist Crescent House's Child Advocate.  Students will learn about the challenges facing children of Crescent House clients.  Students will be able to learn and practice behavior management techniques and gain valuable experience tutoring and working with youth. 

Preservice requirements

Volunteers must attend a mandatory Safe Environment training with Catholic Charities staff.  Two trainings will be offered at Loyola.  Students should bring a government-issued picture ID and their Social Security Number for a background check.
