Courtwatch NOLA

Courtwatch Nola

Court Watch NOLA is a not-for-profit community organization with the mission to promote judicial efficiency through transparency and accountability.  We identify cases involving crimes of violence, high media exposure, and multiple-offense defendants, and track their progress through the criminal justice system.

Volunteers are given a case proceeding to watch in court on an assigned day.  At the conclusion of the proceeding, the volunteer completes a data sheet recording what happened and general impressions about the proceedings.  Data from these observations are extracted and compiled into periodic reports which are posted on Court Watch NOLA's website and released to the media.

Volunteers can also provide assistance with data entry, case selection, and scheduling. Loyola service learning students can participate in any of these opportunities.
