Center for Ethical Living and Social Justice Renewal

The Center for Ethical Living and Social Justice Renewal (CELSJR) is a catalyst in the New Orleans and Gulf Coast Region for nuturing a sustainable, equitable and inclusive community by promoting social, racial and economic justice. 

Students serving at CELSJR will be assigned to many different tasks including those in communications, hospitality, dialogue, administration, gardening, deep listening, writing, cooking, painting, and other tasks as they emerge. 

Loyola service learners will have to opportunity to gain an appreciation for and a skillfulness in what it takes to run a volunteer center. Students will have to chance to develop positive relationships with community partners and a deeper understanding of the systems of oppression.

Preservice requirements

Students interested in serving at CELSJR are asked to attend an on-campus session on Thursday, January 24, 12:00pm - 1:00pm, Living Room, Monroe Library.  Students should bring their resume, pencil and paper.  Please also be prepared for a brief interview.
