Catholic Charities: Head Start
Catholic Charities Head Start Centers provide education, social services, and health screenings to infants, toddlers, and preschoolers (6 weeks to 5 years old) from low income families.
Loyola service learning students can play with and read to Head Start children and assist classroom teachers. Students will learn to interact with diverse groups of people. They will also learn about early childhood development, classroom and behavior management, and different approaches to early learning.
Students volunteering at Head Start Centers must dress appropriately. All Head Start locations are active work environments filled with preschool-aged children. Volunteers should wear sensible shoes. Flip-flops are not allowed. In addition, short shorts, mini-skirts, and any other suggestive, revealing, or offensive clothing will not be permitted.
