The mission of Bridge House is to provide treatment to men and women who have become dependent on alcohol or drugs so that they may lead sober and productive lives.  Long-term residential services are offered in an atmosphere that promotes dignity, honor and respect.  These services are offered regardless of one's ability to pay.

The Catholic Charities' English as a Second Language (ESL) program helps adult immigrants from over thirty countries each year.  With the help of dedicated volunteers, we not only increase students' English abilities, but also assist them in becoming more confident, independent, and integral members of the greater New Orleans community.

We are the city's only free medical and mental health services provider. We offer basic primary care to anyone in need.

Project Lazarus provides transitional housing to people living with HIV/AIDS who have no other place to live.

STAIR is a reading program for public school second graders who are reading below grade level.  Volunteer tutors work with students one-on-one using a professional reading curriculum.  Our mission is to improve the reading skills and self-esteem of elementary school students.  STAIR has been active in the New Orleans area for over 25 years.

ABOUT THE AGENCY
The Uptown Shepherd's Center is a senior activity center open to those 60 years and older.  Various activities, classes, exercise, hot lunch and transportation to and from the Center are provided to our seniors.  This gives the clients an outlet for socialization, mental and physical stimulation and provides an enabling perspective to deal with aging and maintaining independence.

The Harry Tompson Center provides a calm and caring environment in which to serve the needs of the poor and homeless in the downtown New Orleans area.  We are a day center only, and we provide showers, laundry services, a telephone room, legal aid, medical care (including mental health), and prescription assistance.  Lunch is also provided daily at our site.

ABOUT THE AGENCY
The Freret Neighborhood Center, located 1 mile from Loyola’s campus, works with neighborhood residents of all ages. The Center gathers people together to learn new skills, improve the community, and have fun.  Some of the activities offered to neighbors include afterschool programs for youth and the resource center, a free community computer lab which provides tutoring for basic computer skills.
