Bayou Rebirth
Bayou Rebirth is dedicated to restorating Louisiana's wetlands and educating the public about the importance of wetlands. We maintain a nursery and tree farm for propagating plant material, which we use in planting outings with volunteer groups to wetlands and bayous throughout the area. In addition, our education program includes a series of in-school sessions geared to teaching kids about wetland loss and plant species, establishing a wetland plant nursery in their school, and engaging them in restoration through plantings.
Loyola service learning students can help in several ways, including:
- propagating plants and trees at our nursery and tree farm
- representing Bayou Rebirth at local events and festivals
- implementing and testing our wetlands curriculum
- participating in plantings
