Bard Early College

Bard Early College in New Orleans is a unique approach to early college education, extending the academic resources of a college directly into a public high school.  Bard runs a campus for intellectually ambitious 11th and 12th graders from across New Orleans in the International High School.  Bard is unique in that students spend their mornings as conventional 11th and 12th graders in conventional public high schools and their afternoons enrolled in a challenging course at one of the Early College Centers.

Service learners will be tutoring students, assisting students with their writing, and providing basic college advising to 11th and 12th graders.

Transportation

15 minute drive from Loyola (limited on-street parking)
40-50 minutes via public transit. Take the streetcar inbound (toward downtown). Continue on the streetcar around Lee Circle and get off at the stop at Carondelet and Girod Streets. Walk back 1/2 block on Carondelet Street to the school.

Preservice requirements

Interested students will be interviewed and student volunteers will be asked to attend an on-site orientation.
