Arts & Music in the Afternoon (AM/PM)

The Arts and Music in the Afternoon program (AM/PM) is a unique after school enrichment program where students have the opportunity to grow academically and gain exposure to the cultural arts through literacy instruction and fine arts activities delivered by a highly skilled cohort of professional Teaching Artists.  It is the aim of AM/PM to present middle and high school students with rich developmental opportunities to aid in their academic, social, and emotional cultivation.  Students currently have access to the following activities: Marching Band, Dance, Creative Writing, Choir, Visual Arts, Film, and Media Technology.

Service Learners will have the unique opportunity to gain exposure to students in an urban school setting while experiencing the New Orleans arts community.  Working with our Teaching Artist staff, service learners may also have the opportunity to gain and practice teaching and mentoring skills.

Service learning volunteers will be assigned to support a Teaching Artist in an activity of their preference.  Responsibilities will include offering support with student transitions, homework help and tutoring, enrichment instruction support, and dismissal.
