The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges is the regional accrediting body for higher learning institutions in the Southern region. SACS works toward improving the quality of education by requiring measures which assure consistent improvement, accountability and institutional evaluation. Loyola's accreditation is reaffirmed every ten years by the commission, and the university is due for reaffirmation in 2006.
