Higher Education has been hammered by regulatory agencies that are creating new regulations and enforcing existing regulations as never before. What is the role the risk manager plays in helping his or her institution to manage these risks? How can the Risk Manager enlist other departments in compliance efforts? This presentation will suggest specific ways to address the immediate risks of non-compliance of a number of regulatory issues, including the EPA, OSHA, HIPAA, FERPA, and USA PATRIOT ACT. Examples including the EPA Initiative and other voluntary programs will be used to examine the “greening” process - going beyond compliance towards sustainability.
