Restaurants: Staff Picks!

Robert Reed,
Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs

Vincent's Italian Cuisine. 7839 St. Charles Ave, 504-866-9313
This is real authentic Italian food! If you love pasta this is the place. My favorite is the lasagna. The atmosphere and service are excellent!

Vincent's was also recommended by Michael Giorlando, Director of Athletics and Wellness and Head Men's Basketball Coach.

Roberta Kaskel,
Director of Career Development

Cafe Degas. 3127 Esplanade Ave, 504-985-5635
Like being in a small town in France. The best moules and pomme frites in town. Very affordable for a family, and superb Saturday/Sunday brunch. Reservations a must on Sundays.

Ben Hartley, General Manager Sodexo Dining

Herbsaint. 701 St. Charles Ave, 504-524-4114
The food is not over the top fancy, but it's wonderful, interesting, and all of the food is locally sourced!

Craig Beebe,

Interim Director of Residential Life

Dante's Kitchen. 736 Dante St, 504-861-3121
Quintessential Uptown dining at its best, this cafe is tucked away in the Riverbend neighborhood and close to Loyola. There is something for everyone on the menu, and I recommend always getting the stone grits as a side…the best in the city!

Dr. Alicia Bourque,
Director of Counseling and Health Services

Clancy's Restaurant. 6100 Annunciation St, 504-895-111
Clancy’s is one of my favorite restaurants because of its authentic New Orleans charm and outstanding menu. The homemade peppermint ice cream with hot fudge sauce is to die for!

Clancy's was also strongly recommended by Brett Simpson, Associate Athletic Director

Caitlin Brewster,
Marketing Manager for Sodexo Dining

Il Posto. 4607 Dryades St, 504-895-2620
I love Il Posto because it is locally owned and they order their food fresh daily. They have amazing Italian salads, sandwiches and treats. They freshly squeeze juice and make home made peach tea. YUMMY!

Ilyse Goldberg,
Assistant Director, Counseling Center

Cafe Nino. 1510 S. Carrollton Ave, 504-865-9200
OK, so this is not a fancy restaurant but as a New Yorker I must say that this place has the closest thing to NY-style pizza you can get in this city (I believe Nino himself is from Brooklyn). Nino also makes a number of fabulous Italian dishes that he serves fresh each day. If you get a chance to meet him at the restaurant he is just as nice as can be and makes you feel as if you were eating at his own house. (Cash or check only)
