Wellness Theme Housing

The Wellness Community Theme Floor will be housed in Buddig Hall for the 2008-09 school year, and will focus on the Jesuit Value of Cura Personalis, the "care of the whole person". Since the mind is part of the body, it takes both a fit body and a sound mind in order to be well. With this in mind, every resident of the Wellness Floor will be required to sign a Community Contract, in which some specific guidelines are set forth regarding the behavior of the community and it's members. Below is a letter from the Resident Assistant for the Wellness Floor for the 2008-09 School year, Monica Muñoz.

Hello all,

My Name is Monica Muñoz and I am a Music Education Junior with emphasis in Viola. My hometown is Las Vegas, NV, and I am the first person on either side of my family to attend college.

I enjoy any activity involving music. I have been in musical ensembles such as the Loyola Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, University Chorus, Women's Chorus, Crescent City Wind Symphony, and the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra. I love soccer, and my favorite food is ice cream. I enjoy a very healthy lifestyle, and look forward to heading the wellness community next semester. I just want to be the go-to person for people that are far from home. I have so many activities in mind, and can’t wait to meet my residents!

Sincerely,

Monica Muñoz

Some of the activities and floor programs that may lend themselves especially to the Wellness Floor could center around the following ideas:

  • Healthy Eating Habits
  • Self Defense Demonstrations
  • Mocktail happy Hour
  • 'Reck the RecPlex (an open gym night at the University Sports Complex)
  • Stress Management
  • Mental Health Fair
  • Healthy Life Choices
  • What does food do for/to you?
  • Team Intramural Sports

Although these are important topics to discuss with every student, programming on the Wellness Floor is more intentional and focused on each individuals wellness. If you have any questions, please feel free to email:
