The All-University point system has been created to establish a consistent and fair means of determining the outstanding performance of an organization competing in intramural competition throughout the academic year. The award will be given to an organization or group of individuals who, while competing in the intramural program, display an expertise in athletics, consistency in their efforts to participate in a variety of sports, sportsmanship, and the ability to bring others into the program. The following guidelines will be followed throughout the year for the purpose of assigning a point total to each team.

  1. Teams must use the same team name in each sport. (Players may change teams throughout the year.)
  2. All teams will play the same amount of regular season games during any given sport.
  3. All intramural eligibility rules and regulations apply to teams participating in the point system.
  4. Organizations or groups of individuals may enter up to three teams in a sport and receive participation points for each. Ten points will be awarded for the first team entered, 7 points for the second team entered, and 5 points for the third team entered.
  5. Teams will receive points for winning intramural games as well as losing intramural games. The scale is as follows.
    • 10 points for a victory in a Competitive league
    • 7 points for a loss in a Competitive league
    • 6 points for a victory in a Recreational league
    • 4 points for a loss in a Recreational league
  6. Women will receive points for the competitive league since there is not a separate division in the women's leagues.
  7. Teams will be awarded 10 points for advancing in each round of the playoffs. All playoff requirements must be met in order to advance to the playoffs.
  8. Teams will be awarded Championship points as follows:
    • Champions of Competitive league - 20 points
    • Runner-Up of Competitive league - 15 points
    • Semi-Finalists of Competitive league - 10 points each
    • Champions of Recreational league - 10 points
    • Runner-Up of Recreation league - 7 points
    • Semi-Finalists of Recreational league - 5 points each
  9. Participants who compete in individual/dual sports will receive two participation points for his or her team. No more than 12 individuals can receive points for a particular team. A participant's team affiliation must be designated on the entry form prior to any competition.
  10. During the regular season, when a team forfeits a game, 20 points will be deducted from that team's total. Teams will be dropped from competition after a second forfeit in the same sport. If a team is dropped from a league for either forfeits or discipline, 50 points will be deducted from that team's total. See the Intramural Handbook for procedures concerning forfeits.
  11. Points will be tallied at the end of each sport, and will be posted in the Rec Plex as well as on the Web Page. If there is a question concerning a team's total, please write mail to Zachary Bracey.

  12. The All-University champion will be named following completion of the 99-2000 Intramural Calendar. The winners will be announced at the Student Leadership Banquet at the end of the Spring Semester.
