The Department of Public Safety/University Police provides a number
of services for
community members including:
- 24-hour Safety Escorts -On-campus dial: 3434, Off-campus dial: (504) 865-3434
Available to all Loyola community members, the Department provides a 24-hour / 7 days a week safety escort service to anywhere on both campuses, and to the public streets adjacent to those campuses. - Complimentary Shuttle Service between the two campuses. Schedule

All Loyola University Police Officers are certified in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR. - Be On The Lookout Notifications (BOLOs)
24 hour alerts by email of area crime incidents on campus and the surrounding areas. - 31 Blue Light Emergency Telephones- Located in various strategic places on both campuses, they are monitored 24/7.
- General assistance

This type of assistance includes “all other” requests for help, such as unlocking specific doors, loud noise complaints, checking out suspicious persons. - Free Property Engraving through Operation ID is available for students to mark books and other personal possessions. Biever Hall

- Lost and found repository. The University Police office is the designated "Lost and Found" control center for the university. Found items are turned in to our property room, and a considerable effort is made to find the owner(s) and return the property promptly. Should you loose something or find property please call University Police at ext. 3434 or come by police headquarters located in Biever Hall.
- Motorist vehicle assistance- University Police provide battery
boosts, unlock vehicle

because of our 24-hour operational status Loyola University
Police dispatchers serve as the university’s general information operator, fielding all
inquiries after normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. through 4:45 p.m., Monday through
Friday, especially on weekends. On-campus dial: 3434, Off-campus dial: (504) 865-3434 - Safety Orientation and Training - University Police provide several orientations throughout the school year, including those for students, parents, new faculty, and new staff.
- Self defense training for females – Rape Aggression Defense System (R.A.D.S.)
- Silent Witness Program - All information is kept confidential. If you know of a crime that has occurred or is occurring on campus we request that you report it. For immediate service, call ext. 3434 or complete the Silent Witness Online Form.
- Fingerprinting service (FREE). This service is offered to all Loyola community members, and is frequently taken advantage of by employees of our childcare academy, as well as law school graduates seeking bar accreditation. We are currently the only area university or college to provide this service.
- Crime prevention and awareness programs.
- Campus Crime Prevention and Awareness Reports- University Police collect, retain and distribute certain crime statistics and security policy and procedures to all community members and prospective students and employees.
- Fire, Burglar and Hold-Up Alarm Monitoring - University Police monitors fire, burglar, and
hold-up alarms for
various departments throughout the campus. In addition, our department
coordinates the
testing of those alarms on a regular basis. Alarms are randomly tested
for all security
units in the Bursar’s office to enhance the safety of the Loyola community.
