BOLO BOLO Off Campus Armed Robbery – Freret Street between Cherokee and Hillary Streets.

Four Loyola students reported being robbed at gun point at approximately 12:05 a.m. this date while walking on Freret Street between Cherokee and Hillary streets. The students reported that a silver colored “boxy” shaped SUV stopped on the street next to them and two individuals exited and approached them. The two individuals were armed with semi-automatic hand guns and demanded their valuables. The students complied with the demands and turned over a purse, three cell telephones, and cash. The students were then ordered to flee. The students did report that in addition to the two suspects that exited the vehicle, two others remained in the vehicle. No injuries were reported. NOPD was notified and is investigating the off campus incident.

 

Suspect description:

1) African American male; 5’9” hgt.; 140 lbs.; approximate age: 20s; shoulder length dreadlock hair;  wearing dark jeans, a cream colored tee shirt and a red hat armed with a silver colored semi-automatic hand gun.

 

2) African American male; 6’ hgt. 150 lbs. approximate age: early 20s; grey or white tank top shirt; dark jeans armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

 

The other two suspects were not visible to the students.

 

Vehicle description: Silver SUV described as possibly being a Scion XB or a Honda Element.

 

Safety Tips:

  • Do not travel on foot at after dark.
  • Do not resist an armed robber unless you are forced into a vehicle or other location.
  • If you are the victim of a robbery, immediately go to a safe location and contact the police – 911.
  • Keep your cell telephone in your hand and program emergency numbers into the speed dial function.
