BOLO BOLO Vehicle Burglaries - FROM: Delagado Community College

I wanted to pass on information regarding recent auto burglaries that have affected our college.  We had one auto burglary on our City Park campus and two off campus in commercial parking lots in the central business district.  In two of the incidents, navigation devices that were attached to the windshield were stolen.  It seems that the perpetrators were targeting vehicles with navigation devices.  The suspects from the auto burglary on the City Park campus were captured on our video surveillance camera, unfortunately the distance prohibited us from providing a more detailed description.  However, we were able to observe the incident as it occurred.  We observed two perpetrators driving a late model vehicle believed to be a Cadillac Seville, possibly burgundy in color cruising the parking lot before selecting the victim’s vehicle.

The off campus auto burglaries occurred at two different commercial parking lots, neither of which had video surveillance or security.  What is disturbing is that in one of the incidents off campus, the perpetrators were observed committing the auto burglary by one of our female students.   According to the student witness, the perpetrators noticed her watching  and began to chase her.  She was able to escape by alerting other students in the parking lot.  The aggressive behavior of these subjects is very alarming.  One individual is described as a white male, in his early 20s.  The witness did not see the second individual because he remained in a vehicle, described silver colored Nissan they used to flee in.

We have cautioned our students about leaving their navigation devices visible along with any other valuables in their vehicles.
