BOLO BOLO Armed Robbery received from TUPD

OFF CAMPUS ARMED ROBBERY

DATE & TIME OF OCCURRENCE:  June 25, 2009 at 12:19 am

LOCATION:  7000 Block Freret Street

REPORTED OFFENSE:  Two female students were walking in the area when they passed a vehicle parked on Freret Street.  A black male subject exited the rear of the vehicle and approached the victims from behind.  He demanded their purses but took only cash.  The suspect was armed with a silver and black handgun.  The suspect then reentered the vehicle which fled in a westerly direction on Freret Street.

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION:  Black male, 18 to 20 years of age and 5’10” tall, weighing approximately 150 lbs, wearing a white T-shirt, dark jeans, and a blue shirt on his head.   

TAKE A STAND AGAINST CRIME

1. DO NOT RESIST AN ARMED ROBBER!

2. Travel in large groups and use taxis, public transportation, or safe-rides whenever possible.

3. Remember that excessive alcohol usage can make you a target for criminals. 

4. Report suspicious individuals or activities as soon as possible.  DO NOT WAIT.

5. Check Tulane Police and Student Affairs websites for additional personal safety tips.

Tulane University Police Department is providing this notice of a criminal incident(s) that occurred in our community in order to provide information that may help in avoiding a similar crime or provide information to solve this crime.  This notice is also intended to meet the requirements of the “Timely Report” provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, amended 2008, effective August 14, 2008
