Facilities
Experimental research facilities are open to all students. Active areas in experimental physics include low-temperature and superconductivity phenomena along with the search for gravitational waves, an endeavor being carried out by an international collaboration (www.ligo.org) using facilities (www.ligo.caltech.edu) funded directly by the National Science Fountation.
Current theoretical work includes mathematical physics, quantum theory,
and general relativity, including gravitational waves.
