An Uncommon Learning Experience
The Monroe Library has created a Learning Commons, a collaborative space where students, faculty, and staff come together to study, learn, teach, create, and socialize. At the Learning Commons desk, you will be able to get assistance with standard circulation, reference, and technology questions. Users wanting or needing more in-depth knowledge will be connected to appropriate experts, materials, programs, or workshops.

The Monroe Library has art on display throughout the building, and the 4th floor houses the Collins C. Diboll Gallery. The library added several pieces to its permanent collection this year, all of which were created by Loyola alumni. Analia Saban’s (BFA ‘01) “What a Picture is Made of” is on exhibit in the main hallway of the first floor. Saban took an image of an advertising model and separated it into 4 tones: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, each on a separate canvas. She then went through the painstaking process of counting each individual dot on each of the four pieces. Analia Saban is widely regarded as a promising young artist, and the library thanks her for donating these pieces.
