School of Nursing Receives an Eight-Year Accreditation
The School of Nursing last year won re-accreditation from the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc (NLNAC). Word came in the spring that the school exceeded all accreditation standards and was given full eight year accreditation of the nursing program.
The school was visited by a team of nursing faculty, practitioners, and scholars representing the NLNAC in the spring. The visitors were very much impressed with the quality of the faculty and the exemplary teamwork presented; the quality of the students and the positive comments from the students concerning the faculty and the quality of the instruction received; and the methodology and model used in development and delivery of the online courses.
The NLNAC supports the interests of nursing education, nursing practice, and the public through the function of accreditation. Accreditation is a self-regulatory process by which non-governmental associations recognize educational institutions or programs that have been found to meet or exceed standards and criteria for educational quality. Accreditation also assists in the further improvement of the institutions or programs as related to resources invested, processes followed, and results achieved. The monitoring of certificate and degree offerings is tied closely to state examination and licensing rules, and to the oversight of preparation for work in the profession.
