Wolves on the Prowl
A major showing of the Loyola community's commitment to social responsibility was on full display in 14 cities across the nation. As part of the annual National Day of Community Service: Wolves on the Prowl, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends volunteered a full day to serve the community.
November 13, 2004, marked the third annual nationwide Wolves on the Prowl. In the greater New Orleans area, volunteers were divided into groups and sent to the following sites where they assisted with painting, organizing and collecting food, outdoor landscaping, gardening, and general clean up: the ARC of Greater New Orleans, New Orleans Adolescent Hospital, Campus Kitchen at Dillard University, Second Harvesters Foodbank, Allen Elementary School, Girls Hope, Café Reconcile, Catholic Charities Padua Adult Residential Program, Chateau de Notre Dame, and the Good Shepard School. Alumni organizations in 14 cities joined the effort, including those in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles/Orange County, New Orleans, New York City, Orlando, San Francisco, St. Louis, Tampa, and Washington, D.C.
In 1995, the Student Government Association (SGA) approved and sponsored Wolves on the Prowl as a campus-wide community service project in which students worked together to serve New Orleans. The project expanded nationwide in 2001 through the involvement of alumni chapters.
