Women and Men Take Back the Night march held October 27

More than 400 members of the Loyola and Tulane communities as well as the community at large participated in the 14th annual "Women and Men Take Back the Night" march on October 27. The march is a call to end sexual violence against women, men, and children. It is also a powerful healing ritual for survivors of violence and for the men and women who care about them.
The march is designed to heighten awareness of sexual violence against women and to empower female survivors. The emotionally powerful evening included speakers from Loyola, Tulane, and the New Orleans community who shared their personal stories of abuse and healing. Following the speeches, a candlelight march proceeded from the Loyola Horseshoe to Roger's Chapel at Tulane. There, using an open microphone, survivors and others offered their testimonies to resilience of the human spirit and extended open support and encouragement to each other.
