Former university photographer receives Adjutor Hominum
Russell G. Cresson, B'49, (left) received the Adjutor Hominum from University
President Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J., at the annual alumni association luncheon
during the reunion celebration last month. The award is presented by the Loyola
Alumni Association to an outstanding alumnus of the university whose life exemplifies
those characteristics Loyola seeks to form in its graduates, namely moral character
to humanity and unquestionable integrity.
After receiving his bachelor of business administration degree, Cresson was hired as the official university photographer, a career that lasted for 38 years. Throughout his tenure, he had a tremendous influence on Loyola's students and the greater community. He hired student assistants for his photography work, all of who felt tremendous love and respect for Cresson. After retiring in 1987, he continued to work part-time as a professional photographer and was active as a Loyola alumnus. A retrospective of Cresson's Loyola photographs, prepared by current university photographer Harold Baquet, is on exhibit on the third floor of the Monroe Library.
Russ and his wife, Claire, who have been married for 54 years, are the proud parents of nine children; all but one attended Loyola University.
