African Studies Association meets in New Orleans

The African Studies Association annual meeting will take place in New Orleans, November 11 14. Assistant Professor of History and member of the association, Jacqueline Woodfork, Ph.D., will attend, and she has invited her students to volunteer and gain valuable experience. The association, which has its annual meeting in cooperation with major colleges, universities, and museums, is comprised of participants from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the United States. Loyola will host a welcoming reception on Thursday, November 11, at 8:30 p.m. in the Danna Center.

The meeting provides an occasion for panels, plenary sessions, and discussion groups, exhibits, and films. The annual meeting has grown into one of the largest annual gatherings of Africanists in the world, with 1,300 expected to converge in the Crescent City.
