December 12, 2003 Loyola grad earns 2003 Integritas Vitae awardDonald C. Faust, M.D., A'73, a prominent New Orleans orthopedic surgeon, is this year's recipient of the Integritas Vitae Award. Loyola bestows the Integritas Vitae Award, the university's highest honor, to an individual who possesses a high moral character in a lifetime of unselfish service without expectation of material reward or public recognition. Recipients of this award have demonstrated courage of conviction and adherence to the principles of honesty, integrity, justice, and preservation of human dignity throughout their lifetime. Faust received the award at the annual Benefactors Dinner in November. Faust has been an active role model in both the Loyola and New Orleans communities for many years. He is a hand surgery consultant to the Louisiana Handicapped Children's Service Program and serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the United Cerebral Palsy of Greater New Orleans. He performs volunteer service at each clinic on a monthly basis. He has received several awards including the "Volunteer of the Year" award from Children's Services of the United Cerebral Palsy of Greater New Orleans in 2000. He has also been listed in New Orleans Magazine as one of the best hand surgeons in the city. A New Orleans native, Faust is a 1973 graduate of Loyola and received his medical degree from LSU Medical School. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery with an added certification in hand surgery. He owns a private practice and is also an associate clinical professor at LSU.
