October 3, 2003 Capital campaign leadership namedThe Campaign for Centennial Preeminence has named its co-chairs: Arthur Davis will serve as honorary chair and Alton Doody will serve as campaign chair. The new capital campaign initiative, conducted by the Division of Institutional Advancement, is designed to improve the areas of capital projects, student scholarships, and faculty development. The Campaign for Centennial Preeminence is co-chaired by leaders devoted to renewing the university's commitment toward excellence. It is currently in the silent phase which includes soliciting major leadership gifts and conducting orientation for key administrators. Arthur Davis owns the New Orleans architectural firm Arthur Q. Davis, FAIA, and Partners, and previously owned Curtis and Davis Architects and Planners. These firms have won more than 50 awards, placing Davis in the forefront of design excellence. Davis is highly involved in the cultural life of New Orleans providing the pulse for many significant boards, including the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation and the National D-Day Museum. He has served on both the Music Visiting Committee and the Visual Arts Visiting Committee prior to joining the Board of Trustees. Doody is a Board of Trustees member who currently serves on Loyola's College of Music Visiting Committee. He is the winner of numerous awards, including The Marketing Man of the Year Award, the Outstanding Teacher Awards from Ohio State University, and the Founder's Award for Distinguished Service. He is the founder and president of The Alton F. Doody Co., a private investment management company in his native town of New Orleans.
