Loyola's Faculty and Staff Annual Fund Campaign had yet another outstanding year. For the second year in a row, faculty and staff raised more than $70,000 and participation exceeded 50 percent, a tremendous accomplishment. This level of support demonstrates the extraordinary confidence that faculty and staff have in the future of Loyola. Thanks to their dedication, there is an enormous difference in the quality of programs that the university is able to offer.

As Carla Buice, director of the annual fund, says, "Faculty and staff contributions are important because a strong foundation of giving within the university sends a very positive message to prospective donors in the community and outside of the university."

Of the $70,057 raised, restricted gifts amounted to $55,446. Those who restricted their gifts directed them to individual colleges, to the Monroe Library, to selected programs, and to scholarship and research funds. Gifts restricted to the College of Arts and Sciences helped to buy equipment for the Department of Communications, to renovate two multimedia classrooms and to send 25 students to national conferences. In the College of Business Administration, faculty and staff contributions helped provide funding for endowed chairs and professorships, making it possible to recruit and retain nationally and internationally recognized scholars. Contributions to the School of Law annual fund helped to create and renovate office space for student or ganizations. In City College, annual fund gifts bought new computers, user-friendly software, and digital projectors to ensure that instruction meets the challenges of a quickly changing society of working professionals. And in the College of Music, contributions allowed students to travel worldwide to music festivals and competitions.

It is evident that every dollar given to the annual fund has benefited students in some way. All donors, whether alumni, parents, or faculty and staff, have utilized the annual fund as a special way of giving back to the university. Jessica Cassidy, assistant director of the annual fund, says, "Faculty and staff should be proud of their commitment to build an even stronger future for the university and its students. I hope we can continue the momentum of the last two years, and have an even more successful faculty and staff campaign in 2004."
