Loyola ranks sixth in U.S. News & World Report

Loyola ranked sixth in the category of "Best Universities ­ Master's in the South" in the 17th annual "America's Best Colleges" issue and guidebook published by U.S. News & World Report. This is the third consecutive year Loyola ranks sixth.

For the last 13 years, Loyola has retained its position among the top 10 regional schools in the South. In commenting on this year's ranking, University President Bernard P. Knoth, S.J., said, "Our ranking is a strong indication of the caliber of our student body, the dedication of our faculty, and the strength of our academic programs and reflects our continuing commitment to provide our students with a superior education in the Jesuit tradition.

"Loyola's ideal size, its rich Jesuit tradition, and its commitment to academic excellence help us attract exceptionally talented students," Knoth added. Loyola begins the 2003 - 04 academic year with another record enrollment of nearly 900 incoming freshmen. The incoming class of 2007 combined grade point average is 3.71. The average standardized combined test scores for the SAT is 1217 and the students have an ACT composite of 26.36. These figures are significant when compared to the scores of the national college-bound population's average scores of 1042 for the SAT and 21 for the ACT.
