Faculty/Staff Footnotes

Claudia Aguirre joined the Office of Financial Aid as the associate director.

Patrick Bourgeois, chair and professor in the Department of Philosophy, and Peter Rogers, associate professor of modern foreign languages and literature, cooperated on the publication of Awakenings, the autobiography of Gabriel Marcel. Rogers translated the original French text for which Bourgeois wrote an introduction. Awakenings was published by Marquette University Press.

Jessica Cassidy joined the Division of Institutional Advancement as the assistant director of the Office of the Annual Fund. Cassidy graduated from Fordham University with a degree in communications. She was most recently with Simon and Schuster Publishing House in New York where she produced books on audio tape.

Greg Castillo joined the Department of Athletics as head coach of the volleyball team.

Michael Decker was hired in the Office of Admissions as an admissions counselor.

Bobby Marzine Harges, professor of law, moderated a panel discussion titled "The War of the Roses: Handling Family Law Matters Effectively Around the State" as part of the seminar, "Divorce from Ozzie and Harriet to Ozzy Osborne," sponsored by the Louisiana State Bar Association. Harges also joined the panel of mediators of the Mediation Arbitration Professional Systems.

Carol Jeandron, Ph.D., director of the Office of Service Learning, presented the sessions "Higher Education/K12 Service Learning Partnerships: Weaving Connections for Student Success and Civic Engagement" and "Service Learning Is An Academic Affair" at the 2003 American Association of Community Colleges annual convention in April in Dallas.

Joyce Johanningmeier joined the Small Business Development Center as an administrative assistant.

Debra Lansou was hired in the Whelan Child Care Center as a caregiver to toddlers.

Shannon Murphy, formerly assistant director of student activities, is the job/intern development specialist in the Counseling & Career Services Center.

Tammy Smith joined the Whelan Child Care Center as a caregiver to infants.

Ann Tessier joined the Intensive English Program as a part-time LIEP instructor.
