| November 8, 2002 Homecoming 2002: Catching up and reminiscingDuring Loyola Homecoming weekend, the university celebrated it's 90th anniversary. As a part of the festivities, Loyola's Alumni Association presented the annual Adjutor Hominum award to Felix Gaudin, A'54, G'63, at its annual luncheon on Friday, October 25. The award is given to an outstanding alumnus whose life exemplifies moral character, service to humanity, and unquestionable integrity, qualities that Loyola seeks to form in its graduates. For the past five years, Gaudin has served as Loyola's athletics historian. As such he volunteers his time toward the preservation and compilation of the university's athletics archives. A member of the Athletic Hall of Fame commission since its inception, Gaudin has also assembled a complete listing of all former Wolfpack athletes. He recently retired from a 40-year career as a science instructor in the New Orleans area, 33 years at De La Salle High School and seven years at Benjamin Franklin High School. Gaudin also served as the president of the Loyola Alumni Association in 1976. Before honoring Gaudin for his service, Homecoming weekend began with the Golden Wolves reception and induction ceremony honoring the Class of 1952. Saturday's activities began with a Children's Wolf Pup Storytelling Hour, in which GrayHawk Perkins, a member of the United Houma Nation, gave an interactive storytelling of Louisiana's first families. The day ended with a celebration of 90 years of Loyola Wolfpack athletics with a reception and program. The weekend closed out with a Homecoming Mass on Sunday in which there was a special blessing for Loyola married couples, followed by a continental breakfast. |
