Rashad Arcement was hired as an academic tutor in the Upward Bound program.

Jean Augustine joined the Department of Human Resources as a clerk.

Andrea Becnel joined the School of Law as a career counselor/coordinator in the Office of Career Services.

Robert Bell joined Writing Across the Curriculum as a part-time instructor.

Kurt Birdwhistell and D. Andrew Knight, associate professors of chemistry, published the article, "Aqueous-Phase Palladium-Catalyzed Coupling: A Green Chemistry Laboratory Experiment," and Birdwhistell and Assistant Professor Thomas G. Spence published the article "A New Glow on the Chromatography of M&M Candies." Both were included in the July 2002 of the Journal of Chemical Education.

The Rev. James Caimes, S.J. , joined University Ministry as associate university chaplain.

Melissa Elledge was hired as a desk assistant in the University Library.

Ellis Estopinal was hired as a mechanic in Maintenance Central Plant.

Dane Evans joined the College of Music as an accompanist.

Thomas Finicle, Jr., joined the University Library as a media services assistant.

Tina Hebert joined the Department of Human Resources as payroll analyst.

Elizabeth Hoodless was hired in the Office of Admissions as an admissions counselor.

Terry Hurta joined the School of Law as an executive assistant in the Office of Continuing Legal Education.

Perry Hydel, Jr., was hired as a carpenter in Physical Plant.

Sabrina Jacks joins the Whelan Child Care Center as a teacher for three-year olds.

Tammy Jackson is the new assistant to the vice president for student affairs.

Carol Jeandron, director of the Office of Service Learning, presented "Strengthening Educational Institution and Community Connections with Service Learning" at the National Society for Experiential Education 31st Annual Conference held in Las Vegas.

Rebecca Johnson was hired as the employment/training coordinator in the Department of Human Resources.

Mark LaHood joined Residential Life as assistant director.

Kathryn Venturatos Lorio, Leon Sarpy Professor of Law, delivered the John H. Tucker, Jr., Lecture in Civil Law at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in March. Her topic was "The Civil Law System in Louisiana: Archaic or Prophetic in the 21st Century?" Lorio's casebook Louisiana Successions Donations and Trusts was published by Claitor's Publishing Division in August.

Belhia Martin joined the School of Law as career counselor/coordinator in the Office of Career Services.

Dana Maslekoff-Pav-luck joined the Intensive English program as an instructor.

Kacey McNally was hired as an academic counselor in the Academic Resource Center.

Professor of Law Isabel Medina will participate on the panel at the AALS 2003 annual meeting for the Joint Program of Employment, Immigration, and Minority Groups Section on Undocumented Immigrant Workers in the Global Economy: The Case of Hoffman Plastics. Medina is also chair-elect of the Immigration Law Section this year and will be chair of the section in 2003.

Cathy Rogers, associate professor of communications, led the Bateman team to another win. The Bateman team campaign won an Anvil Award from PRSA New Orleans chapter.

Petrice Sams joined the Boggs Literacy Center as a research coordinator.

Sidney Stanford was hired as payroll clerk in the Department of Human Resources.

Ryan Verret joined University Ministry as a resident chaplain.
