Board of Trustees adds four business leaders

Four business leaders have been appointed to the Board of Trustees. They are Alton F. Doody, president of The Alton F. Doody Company in New Orleans; Desiree Glapion Rogers, senior vice president of Peoples Energy Corporation and its utility subsidiaries in Chicago; Earnrolyn Smith, an information professional consultant with Lexis/Nexis Academic & Library Solutions in St. Louis; and Frances S. Smith, owner and proprietor of the Soniat House Hotel in the French Quarter.

Officers for the 2002-2003 Loyola Board of Trustees are Donna D. Fraiche, chair; Jerome J. Reso, Jr., vice chair; Rev. Lawrence W. Moore, S.J., secretary/treasurer; and Rev. Bernard P. Knoth, S.J., president of Loyola.

Doody is the founder and president of The Alton F. Doody Co., a private investment management company. He began his worldwide consulting practice in 1964. He serves as a director of Newell-Rubbermaid, Bravo Development Corporation, Grant Investments, Inc., Hyde Park Restaurants, Inc., and Pet People, Inc. He is co-founder of Management Horizons, Inc., now a division of PriceWaterhouseCooper, LLP. Doody earned a bachelor of arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University. He then received a master's degree in business administration and doctorate from the Ohio State University,

Rogers is senior vice president of Peoples Energy where she leads the utilities' marketing, sales, rates, and customer care operations. She is also responsible for the departments of media relations, corporate communications, corporate contributions, community affairs, and city governmental relations.

She joined Peoples Energy in 1997 as vice president of corporate communications. Rogers received a bachelor's degree in political science from Wellesley College and a master's degree from Harvard Business School.

Earnrolyn "Lynn" Smith, began her career as a law reference librarian at the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Mo., where she now resides. She is currently an information professional consultant with Lexis/Nexis Academic & Library Solutions, where she supervises training personnel for 19 states including Louisiana. Smith earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from Loyola University New Orleans in 1993. Upon graduation, she continued her education at the University of Michigan Graduate School of Library and Information Science, where she received her M.S.L.I.S. degree. She earned a juris doctor degree from Saint Louis University Law School.

Frances S. Smith, B'62, and her husband, Rodney R. Smith, are the owners and proprietors of the historic Soniat House Hotel and Antiques Gallery in New Orleans' French Quarter. The 33-room hotel has gained an international reputation and was named as one of the 10 best small hotels in America by CondéNast Traveler. The antique gallery sells English, French and Louisiana antiques. A native of Baton Rouge, Smith received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Loyola and completed two years post graduate work at the Sorbonne in French history and literature. She served on the College of Business Administration Visiting Committee and currently serves on the visiting committee for the College of Music.
