Exemplfy Academic Excellence

Loyola Student Named Business Valuation Services Scholar

Recognized as one of the three top business students at private liberal arts universities, Kristi Chenoweth is the recipient of the Business Valuation Services Scholarship Award.

Chenoweth, who is majoring in accounting, has maintained a 3.9 grade point average as a senior. She is active in a variety of co-curricular activities at Loyola and volunteers her time throughout the city of New Orleans. Upon graduating from Loyola this spring, Kristi hopes to become a financial analyst or business consultant. Her hard work and contributions to the Loyola community are being awarded by the Business Valuations Services with a $1,000 scholarship for the spring 2002 semester.

Hundreds of applicants from throughout the United States entered the web-based competition and three rose to the top. Chenoweth and the other winners were selected on a basis of career interests, academic achievement, leadership, financial need, and quality of written responses.

Leader of the Pack wins national award

Derika Legg, A'02, a triple-major senior, has been selected as one of the American Advertising Federation's Top 25 Most Promising Minority Students in the nation. She was honored at a luncheon in New York in early February where she met with industry professionals from all over the United States. Along with the other 24 winners, Derika was featured in a special section of Advertising Age Magazine.

Loyola has been directly benefited by Legg's advertising success. Her academic excellence, genuine creativity, commitment to the university, and heart for community service have made a lasting impact. She is the brain and energy behind the very successful "Proud to be Part of the Pack" student-initiated grassroots pride campaign which was launched in fall 2001. Her creation of the campaign's logo, ads, spirit events, and promotional items has spread spirit fever across the campus. Loyola pride is on the rise and Derika's advertising campaign is leading the way.
