Loyola advertising students win awards in district competition

Ben Diebold and Derika LeggAt the American Advertising Federation 7th District Convention in April in Baton Rouge, Ben Diebold (left), communications sophomore, won the Richard Joel Best Presenter Award for the National Student Advertising Competition. He was judged the best individual presenter among the 12 teams presenting in the competition. The award came with a $100 check.

Derika Legg (right), communications junior, won the Jan Gardner Scholarship. She was selected as one of three finalists from a five-state area and was interviewed by the panel of judges in Baton Rouge where she was the unanimous choice of the judges. The award came with a $1000 scholarship. Legg is a triple major in communications (advertising), Spanish, and religious studies. She is a student in the Honors Program.
