Guillermo Barturen was hired as a police officer in University Police.

Julia Burka was hired in the College of Music as an accompanist.

Sister Leyla Cerda joined University Ministry as an associate chaplain.

Mitchell F. Crusto, associate professor of law, had an article published in Volume 2001 Number 2 of the Columbia Business Law Review. The title of the article was "Extending the Veil to Sole Entrepreneurs: A Limited Liability Sole Proprietorship Act (LLSP)."

Adele Engelbracht was hired as a substitute teacher in the Whelan's Children's Center.

Brian Fox joined the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid as a financial aid counselor.

George Gallien was hired as an associate chaplain in University Ministry.

Sister Mary Hebert joined Health Services as a business manager.

Leonard Howard was hired in purchasing as a reproduction assistant.

Carol Jeandron, director of the Office of Service Learning, presented the session "Service-Learning: Bridging the Gap Between the Humanities and Life," at the Community Colleges Humanities Association National Conference last month in Portland. The American Association of Community Colleges sponsored the event.

Jeannette Jones was hired as a music library assistant in the Music Library.

Anthony Ladd, associate professor and chair of sociology, chaired a session on "Globalization and the Environment" at the Mid-South Sociological Association meetings in Mobile, and delivered a co-authored paper titled "Hogging the Market: Corporate Pork in the Global Feedlot." Additionally another co-authored article, "Race, Class, Political Capacity and the Spatial Distribution of Swine Waste in North Carolina, 1982-1997," appears in the recent issue of North Carolina Geographer.

M. Isabel Medina, professor of law, served on a panel at Tulane University School of Law on "The Importance of Networking and Mentoring" in October.

James Nolan joined the Department of English as director of the Writing Institute.

Catherine Roy joined the Office of Financial Affairs as an accounts payable assistant.

Yolanda Taylor was hired as an executive secretary in the Office of Student Affairs.

Michelle Theriot joined Health Services as a nurse/ health educator.

Paul Trainor was hired as a police officer in University Police.

Christy Rilette joined the University Library as a reference librarian.

Toni Smith was hired in the Department of Visual Arts as an administrative assistant.

Christopher Thomas was hired by University Police as a police officer.
