Proud to be part of the pack

Proud to be Part of the Pack, a yearlong grassroots campaign to promote school spirit on campus, kicked off this semester with students handing out Pack Pride buttons at faculty/staff convocation and at the annual luncheon after Mass of the Holy Spirit. Arts and sciences student Derika Legg with faculty adviser, Teri Henley, Shawn M. Donnelley Professor for Nonprofit Communications, will chair the effort.

The campaign is sponsored by the Pack Pride Committee, comprised of over 20 students. Faculty/staff members include Chris Cameron, student activities and Danna Center director; Helen Ellis, assistant director of public affairs; Henley; Julia McSherry, director of publications and marketing communications; Brett Simpson, sports information director; Robert Thomas, Loyola environmental communications chair; and Debra Woodfork, manager of the Donnelley Center. Other interested faculty and staff are encouraged to join the committee.

Proud to Be Part of the Pack ads featuring various student, faculty, and staff groups on campus will run in each issue of the The Maroon. The committee is also planning special events in connection with Loyola Week, athletics, and Wolves on the Prowl. The initiative, which is part in the university's integrated marketing communications plan, is intended to instill a sense of pride about Loyola's unique combination of academic excellence, ideal size, and rich Jesuit tradition.
