Brendan Brown Lecture

The annual Brendan Brown Lecture will be presented by Professor James J. White on Friday, April 20, 2001, at 3 p.m. in the Gisevius Appellate Moot Court Room 308 of the law school.

James White began his academic career at the University of Michigan in 1964 and currently serves as the Robert A. Sullivan Professor of Law. He has written on many aspects of commercial law and has published the most widely recognized treatise on the Uniform Commercial Code, handbook of the Law under the Uniform Commercial Code. He is also the author of several casebooks on commercial, bankruptcy, and banking law.

White served as the reporter for the Revision of Article 5 of the Uniform Commercial Code, served on several American Law Institute and NCCUSL committees dealing with revision to the Uniform Commercial Code, and is a member of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws. He is a graduate of Amherst College and the University of Michigan Law School and has practiced privately in Los Angeles.

The Brendan Brown lecture series is named in honor of a former Loyola professor who studied natural law and legal philosophies. Brown dedicated money for professors to give reflective lectures in the area of natural law.
