March 9, 2001 Tartuffe to be performed at LoyolaLoyola's Department of Drama and Speech puts on Tartuffe by Molière will play in Marquette Theater March 16-25. It will be directed by Perry Martin. Tickets are $10 general admission, $7 for students and seniors. When Tartuffe made its debut in 1664, it was decried as an attack on Catholicism and was banned in France for four years. Considered to be Moliere's most revealing satire, the play unmasks the true motives of those religious impostors who have manipulated others throughout history. Tartuffe will play in Marquette Theater, 6363 St. Charles on March 16, 17, 22, 23, and 24 at 8 p.m. and March 18 and 25 at 2 p.m. Group discounts are available. For more information, call 865-3824. |
