Professors showcase New Orleans music

Sanford Hinderlie, associate professor of music, and Professor of English John Biguenet collaborated in the production, "Southern Fever, A New Orleans Show," featuring New Orleans musicians Topsy Chapman, Kim Prevost, Leon Brown, Bill Solley, Ricky Sebastian, Tom McDermott, Darrell Lavigne, and Ed Wise. The group performed 14 shows in theaters throughout Holland in September and October.

Hinderlie, a producer and arranger, conceived the musical show, a review of 100 years of New Orleans music. Biguenet wrote the script to adapt to a foreign audience. They both worked together in conjunction with two Dutch directors, who visited New Orleans this summer, meeting several times to rehearse the show and refine the script and music. Hinderlie traveled to Holland to rehearse the group before the tour began. The venues for the show included theatres in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, Haarlem, Delft, Arnheim, and several other Dutch cities. A tour of other countries in Europe is planned for next season.

Members of "Southern Fever, A New Orleans Show" perform.
