Capital punishment debated up close and personal

The issue of capital punishment was discussed in a very personal manner November 28 when Marc Klaas and David Kaczynski came to Loyola. Klaas is the father of 12-year-old Polly Klaas who was kidnapped, raped, and murdered. Mr. Klaas vehemently advocated the death penalty for his daughter's murderer. David Kaczynski is the brother of Unabomber Ted Kaczynski who was convicted of killing three and injuring 28 people. David Kaczynski opposed the death penalty for his brother.

Pictured before the debate are: student Tom Ferguson, A'03, Marc Klaas, David Kaczynski, Assistant Professor of Sociology Marcus Mahmood, and student Megan Pollman, A'01.
