Music business students tour music empires in Big Apple

Twenty-six students from the new music business program recently returned from a field trip to New York City. This was the first of many trips music business majors will take, says Scott Fredrickson, Ph.D., chair of the program. He went on to say that the purpose of the trip was to familiarize students with one of the largest music business centers in the world and to introduce them to many new internship opportunities.

The students toured Carnegie Hall, MTV television studios, Sony Records, ASCAP, the American Symphony Orchestra League, Carl Fischer Music, and a large audio and video post production facility. Many of the students also had the opportunity to attend Broadway shows, jazz clubs, rock venues, and the Metropolitan Opera. Several of the seniors were able to schedule internship interviews. Fredrickson also plans similar trips to Los Angeles, Nashville, and Toronto.
