October 27, 2000 Loyola complies with state's Asbestos Abatement ActIn accordance with requirements of the Louisiana Asbestos Abatement Act, McClelland Management Services has completed a comprehensive inspection of Loyola to identify all asbestos-containing materials. This act is similar in scope to the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), which is the federal law that regulates primary and secondary schools. Colleges and universities are regulated by the Louisiana Asbestos Abatement Act. The Asbestos Abatement Act requires Loyola to inform all interested parties that during the past year, the university has continued to conduct semiannual inspections of the campus in accordance with its comprehensive management plan. Small scale abatement and repair activities were completed as required. A copy of the management plan is available for review. The report may be viewed in the physical plant office, 8:30 a.m. 4:45 p.m., MondayFriday. Under this management plan, the following asbestos-related activities are planned in the coming year:
