Loyola big hit at entertainment awards

Loyola was well represented in the 1999 Big Easy Entertainment nominations and awards.

Tintypes was nominated for Best University Theatre Production. Tintypes was directed by Ricky Graham with musical direction by Dane Evans and produced by the Department of Drama and Speech.

Drama chair Georgia Gresham attended the ceremony along with students Melanie Clark, Heather Stickney, Nick Thompson, Scott Edwards, Sarah Jane McMahon, Chrissy Garrett, and business manager David Dahlgren.

Performances of Loyola alumni and students also were recognized in many other categories. Michael Cahill, A'80, won Best Supporting Actor in a Play for his role in The Beauty Queen of Leenane. Eva Earls A'88 won Best supporting Actress in a Musical for her performance in Guys and Dolls. Gavin Mahlie, A'86, was nominated Best Actor in a Play (Comedy or Drama) for It's A Wonderful Life and Sarah Jane McMahon, M'02, was nominated for Best Actress in a Musical. The cast of Filumena, which won Best Comedy, included alumnus Kara Hadigan, A'98, and senior Nick Thompson A'00. Adjunct assistant professor Francine Segal was nominated for Best Actress in a Play for her portrayal of Maria Callas in Master Class.
