Business professor honored for 25 years of teaching

During his convocation on August 21, University President Bernard P. Knoth, S.J. recognized and congratulated Ron Christner, Ph.D., for 25 years of dedicated and scholarly service to Loyola.

The associate professor of finance and real estate in the College of Business Administration arrived at Loyola in September 1974 from the University of Minnesota. He served three years as the Rosenthal Professor in the business school. He is well-regarded teacher, entrepreneur and scholar. Five years ago, Christner was a Fulbright Fellow in Croatia and recently conducted a two-week lectureship at Peking University in Beijing. His research interests include risk management practices in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Other work has focused on diversification of stock portfolio using future spreads and an empirical study of profit opportunities on the gold-platinum future spreads. Additionally, Christner has written articles for leading business journals and has presented papers at national and international conferences. Most recently, he published two refereed articles.

Christner received his bachelor's degree in economics from St. Procopius College and a master's degree and doctorate from the University of Minnesota.
