September 1, 2000 Interim director for Boggs Center, Institutional Advancement selectedUniversity President Bernard P. Knoth, S.J., appointed Michael Cowan, Ph.D., as the interim director of the Lindy Boggs National Center for Community Literacy effective August 1. Cowan, a professor in Loyola's Institute for Ministry, has been closely associated with the Boggs Center since its opening and was actively involved in the development of the center's strategic plan. "I appreciate Michael's willingness to serve in the interim capacity and look forward to his work to continue the development of the Boggs Center's activities, programs, and outreach," Knoth wrote. The president continued, "I salute Mary Ann Corley for her steadfast effort in establishing the Boggs Center's identity and mission and thank her, as founding director, for developing a strategic plan and structure that will insure great benefit to those most in need of the center's services." Cowan earned a doctorate in psychology in 1976 from Ohio State University; two masters degrees include one in counseling psychology from Ohio and another in systematic and philosophical theology in 1985 from St. John's University; and a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1971 from Loyola University Chicago. Charles DiGange was appointed interim vice president for the Division of Institutional Advancement. A permanent replacement is being sought for Joseph Mansfield who retired from the post at the end of July. DiGange has been with the university for 10 years, six of which he has served as associate vice president. |
